Rob Schneider Lectures Rep. John Lewis On Civil Rights on MLK Day ( 4UMF NEWS ) Rob Schneider Lectures Rep. John Lewis On Civil Rights on MLK Day: Rob Schneider, known best for his slapstick comedy, used Martin Luther King, Jr., Day to teach Rep. John Lewis, a civil rights icon who was beaten during the Selma attacks in 1965 and marched alongside King at the March on Washington in 1963, about civil rights. “Rep. Lewis. You are a great person. But Dr. King didn't give in to his anger or his hurt,” the “Deuce Bigalow” actor tweeted Monday. “That is how he accomplished & won Civil Rights.” The ill-advised comment came just days after a disagreement between Lewis and President-elect Donald Trump. The Georgia Democrat announced Friday that he wouldn’t attend Trump’s inauguration, saying he doesn’t see this President-elect as a legitimate President.” On Saturday, Trump lashed out online in response. “John Lewis should spend more time on fixing and helping his district, which is in horrible shape and falling apart (not to mention crime infested) rather than falsely complaining about the election results,” he tweeted just after 8 a.m. “All talk, talk, talk — no action or results. Sad!” Trump followed up hours later with another attack. “Congressman John Lewis should finally focus on the burning and crime infested inner-cities of the U.S.,” he tweeted. “I can use all the help I can get!” The “Water Boy” actor’s tweet was met with similar disapproval. “Rob Schneider lecturing @repjohnlewis is the most embarrassing thing he's ever done,” tweeted “Star Trek” actor Wil Wheaton. “Yes, this includes ‘The Animal.’” “In a new segment called "hey world remember rob schneider?" wrote comedian Desus Nice. “Rob Schneider lecturing John Lewis on what MLK did is like someone who takes selfies giving acting advice to Meryl Streep,” said musician Ricky Davila.
