After “an extensive investigation” members of the West Suburban Enhanced Drug/Gang Enforcement task force served a warrant on a home in the 6800 block of Pershing Road in Stickney on Wednesday, where they discovered 10 pot plants “growing within a climate controlled, artificially lighted, enclosed, humidified system,” according to a WEDGE news release.
Police also confiscated cash, a replica of a 9mm handgun and several rounds of live ammunition, according to the release.
Ward is charged with possession of drug paraphernalia, unlawful possession of cannabis, possession of cannabis with intent to deliver, unlawful possession of ammunition by a felon and unlawful production of cannabis sativa plants, police said.
“Mr. Ward was producing and supplying the West Suburban area with large amounts of cannabis,” said Riverside Police Chief Tom Weitzel, the chairperson of the WEDGE task force.
