( 4UMF NEWS ) Teen Dies Car Surfing:
A small Ohio town is in mourning after a fun-loving teen was thrown from a car while “car surfing,” hit his head and died, according to reports.
Jacob Wolfe, a 16-year-old from Chillicothe whose pals called him “Wolfman,” was riding on the hood of a 1991 Honda Accord in a Walmart parking lot at around 9:30 p.m. on Saturday when the accident occurred, the Chillicothe Gazette reported.
Investigators in Chillicothe, about an hour south of Columbus, said Wolfe was throttled from the vehicle when the 18-year-old driver suddenly hit the brakes.
The teen was flown to Nationwide Children’s Hospital in Columbus, where he died from severe head trauma on Sunday afternoon. Police were investigating the incident, but the driver wasn’t expected to be charged, according to local reports.
Friends described Wolfe as a gentle soul who loved to make his classmates laugh.
“He was a great kid,” Chillicothe High Principal Jeff Fisher told the Gazette. “Jacob was a great person and had a great sense of humor. No matter the situation, he could make you smile, make you laugh.”
Guidance counselors were being made available to students in the school’s library on Monday, and a vigil was planned at Wolfe’s church, Chillicothe Baptist Church, at 6 p.m.
