Taylor Swift and Conor Kennedy have been accused of crashing a Kennedy family wedding by the bride’s mother, who claims she asked the singer to leave twice.
Victoria Gifford Kennedy, whose daughter Kyle got married in Boston on Saturday, told the Boston Herald, “They texted me an hour before the wedding and asked if they could come. I responded with a very clear ‘Please do not come.’ They came anyway.”
“I personally went up to Ms. Swift, whose entrance distracted the entire event, politely introduced myself to her, and asked her as nicely as I could to leave,” Kennedy continued. “It was like talking to a ghost. She seemed to look right past me.”
The 22-year-old Grammy-winning singer’s rep denied that Swift crashed the wedding and told the paper, “There is no truth to that… Taylor was invited to the wedding and the bride thanked her profusely for being there.”
Victoria Kennedy said that though Conor was invited to the wedding, he never RSVP’ed. She told the paper that she turned down his request to come because she did not want Swift distracting from her daughter’s wedding day.
Swift had a much friendlier welcome from other members of the Kennedy family. Conor’s aunt Rory Kennedy said that the singer was “a great friend of all of ours.” And when asked if she thought Swift would be a good addition to the Kennedy clan, 84-year-old Kennedy family matriarch Ethel said, “We should be so lucky.”
