For all you fans who loved the Television show “Showtime At the Apollo” I have great news for you, — the show is headed back to TV.
For nearly eight decades, the Apollo Theater has served as a launch pad for a series of successful entertainers including Ella Fitzgerald, Sarah Vaughn, James Brown, The Jackson 5, The Isley Brothers, Luther Vandross, and Lauryn Hill. Showtime At the Apollo originally aired from 1987 to 2008 capturing millions of fans each week.
Executive producers Jamie Foxx, Marcus King, and Don Weiner have put a fresh spin on the classic “Amateur Night” variety show. The show is now hosted by comedian Tony Rock (Chris Rock Lil Brother). The audience is somewhat still in controls of who wins, however this time around they will have help from celebrity judges.
The judges are Michael Bivins from New Edition and hip hop pioneer Doug E. Fresh. P.S. Just so yall know the Sandman will be back!!!
