(4UMF NEWS) Ray Allen Blames Celtics For Departure:

Celtics fans and NBA fans alike were surprised to hear Ray Allen parting ways with Boston this offseason. Rumors about his possibly sour relationship with both Kevin Garnett and Rajon Rondo caused much speculation, but Allen decided to lay it all out on the table in a recent interview.

Allen got on WMEN in Miami, and told Big O, “It was a business decision and the team put me in the position where we had to move. We had to go. Miami was a better choice for us based on what the team was doing, so it wasn’t, don’t boo me, boo the team in a sense. Now it’s out of my control.”

Ray went on, “When this contract situation came down, everybody in my circle–Mom, family, brother, sister, friends from college, people who watched me since I was in high school and since I was in college–nobody wanted me to resign in that situation because they thought, ‘There is so much left in you and this team isn’t taking care of you or treating you right.’”

In all likelihood, Allen’s departure from Boston had nothing to do with money, considering he took a paycut to continue in Miami. His move to Miami had to do with who desired him more. Allen felt like he didn’t have a real spot on a currently changing Celtics team, and decided to play for the defending champs. You can’t blame him.
