Rasheeda Talks Baby Karter, Kirk Being A Great Father, And Love & Hip-Hop Atlanta
( 4UMF NEWS ) Rasheeda Talks Baby Karter, Kirk Being A Great Father, And Love & Hip-Hop Atlanta:
The Hip-Hop Socialite recaps the hottest celebrity news and gossip of the last week, and drops a few exclusives….
Despite a troubled patch in her marriage to Kirk Frost, which played out during the last season of Love & Hip-Hop: Atlanta
, Rasheeda is basking in the glow of being a mother again to the couple’s newborn baby
, Karter Frost. In a much better place than she was when Kirk’s cabin romp with a groupie was broadcast for the whole world to see, the “Marry
Me” rapper is taking it “one day at a time
” in working on her relationship with her husband, while preparing to return to the spotlight with new music and a third season of the hit VH1 reality show. I recently got the chance to speak to Rasheeda about the new baby, her relationship with Kirk, the possibility of Love & Hip-Hop
expanding into other cities, and the rumors about the changes in the LHHA
cast. Check out highlights from our chat below.
ON THE NEW BABY:
“He’s great, he’s absolutely great! He’s just a handsome little angel. Of course you know the first month – we haven’t reached our first month yet – but yeah, it’s rough. It’s every 3 hours. Doesn’t matter the time. Twelve midnight, three in the morning, six, nine, twelve, it’s no joke.”
ON HOW KIRK HAS TAKEN TO BEING A FATHER AGAIN DESPITE HIS INITIAL REACTION TO HER PREGNANCY:
“He’s actually just amazing to be honest with you. He’s just been a great father, he’s been, you know, allowing me to get my rest as much as possible, and regardless to the fact that you can’t get past the crying that you hear from the baby, but he’s been really, really great. You know he’s always been a good father regardless of how it looked on television as far as the things he said about ‘I’m tired of raising kids,’ and whatnot, you know. He has four adult children, you know. Over 18 [years old] kids that he was more so speaking about, but as far as him in Karter’s life, he’s just been 100% just doing his damn thing.”
ON IF SHE AND KIRK ARE IN A BETTER PLACE IN THEIR RELATIONSHIP:
“I mean you just take it one day at a time, and the main thing is just being parents number one, and then just continuing to grow our friendship, and to try to get back in a place. But you just don’t rush things, you just take one day at a time and just keep it moving.”
ON IF SHE THINKS HER PROBLEMS WOULD KIRK WOULD HAVE HAPPENED IF THEY WEREN’T ON TV [THE REALITY TV COUPLES CURSE]:
“I think so, because we’ve been through so many different things in our relationship. Then you’ve got everybody weighing in and trying to see what’s going on…I’m not saying the same issues, but just different issues within your marriage, you know what I’m saying. And I look at it like it’s relationship problems, it’s marital problems – some people can’t relate because they haven’t been in a relationship or marriage. At the end of the day, yeah, it does seem like it could be a reality curse, but I’m not 100% saying that happened in my relationship, but I think with it playing out on TV and stuff like that, and you having so many people weighing in on it, sometimes people get persuaded by outsiders, you know what I’m saying. But you’ve just got to follow your heart and do what’s best for you as an individual and as the person living in the relationship. So, it is what it is, you just have to deal with it, get through it if you can, try to get back together if you can, and if you can’t, then keep it moving. And if you don’t, they going to say it’s a curse, and then sh*t, it’s the curse. (laughs) And if you beat the curse, dammit, you beat it.”
ON RUMORS THAT SHE AND KIRK FAKED THEIR RELATIONSHIP ISSUES BECAUSE THEY WERE IN DANGER OF BEING FIRED AFTER SEASON ONE:
“Well, first of all, the chopping block situation, we didn’t know anything about that. Every thing was every thing. We came back season 2 so we wouldn’t on the chopping block. And, like I said, everybody has problems; ain’t nobody perfect. I got pregnant, and Kirk wasn’t happy about it. The sh*t was the real deal. He felt like he felt, and went and did what he did, and that’s him. It wasn’t no ficitious sh*t. I mean, people go through stuff, and the killer part that really be bugging me out is, the reason why people could relate so much is a lot of us been through that type of situation. The things that were going on with me and Kirk…you know what, if you’re on reality TV
, and you’re going through some sh*t, then you’re going through it, and that’s what it is, and people can weigh in and say they feel like this and they feel like that, they can say what they want to say, but we have real issues. We have other sh*t that goes on in our relationship that people may not have seen just for the simple fact that it’s too many damn people on the show, and you don’t have all that camera time to speak to everybody. At the end of the day, we’re real people with real issues, with real problems, and the difference is it played out on TV with cameras in front of us, straight up and down. You know what, people have to weigh in, they saying what they saying. A lot of people feeling like this and feeling like that, but at the end of the day, a lot of people could relate because it was some real sh*t, and a lot of times a lot of people done been through the situation. No it ain’t no fake made up sh*t – who want to make up some sh*t like that? Who wants to go through that as a person? You know what I’m saying? But it’s life, and it is what it is. You play the cards that you dealt with, and you move forward. And in a relationship, it can either mess up a relationship and tear you apart, or it’ll make you stronger, end of story. And I’ve seen people go through way worse sh*t than what me and Kirk been going through.”
“No, I haven’t talked to her since the reunion, but you should be able to come to something being a grown ass woman. I mean seriously, it comes to a point you just kind of let bygones be bygones and keep it pushing, and that’s just where I’m at with it. I’ve been going through a whole lot of different things, and I look at it like the last thing I got time for on my plate is to be backing-and-forthing with the next person, the next woman. So like I said, and I meant what I said, we’ll don’t have to be friends, but we can be cordial, and I wish you the best with everything you trying to do, and that’s that. I mean, for real.”
ON HER MUSIC:
“Definitely a new album, which will be after the New Year, but you’ll hear new music before Thanksgiving. You’ll hear new Rasheeda music and a new album after the New Year, and just gettting geared up for all that, getting ready to get back out there on the road doing shows and hosting parties and all that good stuff at the end of this month so, I’ve been taking in all my down time and my great motherly bonding time, and after that, it’s time to get back to work.”
“You know what, it’s such a blessing, it’s going so well. We’ve totally expanded ImBossy.com to, we have shoes, hats, sunglasses, full apparel, dresses, leggings, pants, skirts, tops, jackets, everything. Then I’ve also launched my new cosmetics line, Poiz Cosmetics, and it’s available on the website as well. So you can just come to ImBossy.com and just really get your shop on. It’s going really, really great, and we’re constantly expanding so, it’s been a real blessing.”
ON IF THEY’RE CURRENTLY FILMING LOVE & HIP-HOP: ATLANTA, SEASON 3:
“No, not yet, but soon. Very soon.”
ON LOVE & HIP-HOP EXPANDING INTO OTHER CITIES:
“I heard all of that, and I’m like, ‘okay, I see they looking to maybe milk the cow,’ and hopefully they making the right decision on that. All I know is Love & Hip-Hop: Atlanta is Atlanta, and I don’t know about the rest of them places, but we got that thing on lock over here. That’s all I can say.”
ON RUMORS ABOUT CHANGES TO THE CAST:
“Well you can’t even believe everything that you hear, but you never really know. I will tell you it’s going to be some changes, but you know, you’ll just have to see what the real deal is because every time I turn around, there’s somebody that they’re claiming is going to be on here, somebody that quote, allegedly done got ‘the boot’, you know. And don’t nobody know what the hell they be talking about until them credits roll, ‘This is the Life’ start playing, and the show airs. Other than that, just be ready to see what goes on for [season] 3 because you never know.”

Spotted: Larenz Tate At Premieres Gun Hill At 17th Annual Urbanworld Film Festival
Although he hasn’t received the same accolades as some of his peers, Larenz Tate is still one of the most talented actors in Black Hollywood, and one of my favorites. Last week, the 38-year-old was here in NYC for the 17th Annual Urbanworld Film Festival to premiere his new project, a BET original move titled Gun Hill. The movie will potentially be turned into a television series, and takes its name from the infamous Gun Hill Road section of the Bronx.
In the film, Larenz initially plays dual roles, twins Trane and Bird – one good, the other bad. Seeking redemption after spending most of his life on the wrong side of the law, Bird (the bad twin) takes on the identity of Trane (the good twin) after he is gunned down during a high-speed car chase. The whole plot seems a little far-fetched, but Larenz makes it work, and by the end of the film, I found myself rooting for Bird although I knew his taking on his brother’s identity was totally wrong. I won’t give away anymore of the film’s plot, but I’d love to see it continue as a television series. Let’s hope BET does the right thing by this project.
Twitscoop: Gucci Apologizes
The last few weeks have been crazy in the land of the “Ice Cream Man”, aka Gucci Mane. Along with going on a Twitter rant during which he claimed to have had sex with Nicki Minaj and rapper Tyga’s baby mama Blac Chyna (among others), the 33-year-old came close to getting into a fight with a guy at Lenox Mall in Atlanta, and was arrested for disorderly conduct, possession of marijuana and for carrying a gun.
Although he deleted his Twitter page amid backlash following his X-rated tirade, it reappeared over the weekend with an apology to his fans and everyone he bashed. “I just wanna man up right now & take this time to apologize to my family, friends, the industry & most of all my fans. I’m SORRY!”, Gucci said.
During his Twitter apology, Gucci also spoke on his drug addiction and explained how it played a role in his rant. I’ve been drinking lean for 10plus years & I must admit it has destroyed me. I wanna be the first rapper to admit,” the “Freaky Gurl” rapper said. “I’m addicted to lean & that shit ain’t no joke. I can barely remember all the things I’ve done & said. However there’s no excuse.”
Wait, pause. Far be it from me to take away from Gucci’s attempt to make amends for what he said, but am I the only one who doesn’t believe he composed this apology Tweet? Honestly, when have you known Gucci to put together a coherent sentence? Nevertheless, good for him (or whomever) for trying to make things right, but typically when I hear him talk, the only thing I can understand is “burrr”.
