( 4UMF NEWS ) Raiders Coach Saves Woman From Sinking Car:
An act of heroism has emerged out of Raider Nation.
While driving home from dinner with his wife and neighbor, Taryn Griffin, team assistant athletic trainer Chris Cortez spotted a car that skidded off the road and into an Oakland estuary.
As he conveyed to Raiders.com, Cortez and Griffin (along with a third person) decided to voluntarily plunge in and pull the woman out of the sinking car just in the nick of time. She was taken to safety at a nearby shore.
“We got the woman to roll down her window and the car started going under,” Cortez said. “Taryn, being the awesome swimmer that she is, dove right in and so I just went in right after her. And so did another individual, and we fortunately got her out of there without a scratch, which is pretty amazing. Nobody got hurt.”
