( 4UMF NEWS ) President’s Plane Struck By Lightning:

New French President Francois Hollande looks out of his car as he rides up the Champ-Elysses after the presidential handover ceremony Tuesday.

Tuesday wasn’t a good day weather-wise for France’s new president, Francois Hollande.

First, his inauguration was marred by dreary skies and then his journey to Berlin for key talks with German Chancellor Angela Merkel was delayed after his plane was hit by lightning, the BBC reported.

The plane was forced to turn back to Paris. Hollande took a second plane and was expected to arrive in Berlin later today.

Earlier Tuesday, Hollande was sworn into a five-year term at the Elysee Palace in Paris, becoming France’s first Socialist president in 17 years.

After his trip to Germany, Hollande will hold his first cabinet meeting on Thursday and then visit Washington to meet U.S. President Barack Obama on Friday.
