Are Pippa’s pals packing heat?

French authorities fear they might be, and now Kate Middleton‘s sexy sister could face charges after a pal was caught pointing a gun at paparazzi in Paris, Britain’s The Sun newspaper reported.

Middleton, 28, was riding shotgun in an Audi convertible with three chestnut-haired studs on Sunday when the driver turned and pointed a pistol — which may or may not have been real — at a photographer who was following them.

The shutterbug’s image — displayed on The Sun’s cover and shown in a video report on NBC’s “Today” show — features Middleton and her pals smiling and laughing as the man makes like French gangster Jacques Mesrine, waving the black piece in the air.

The Paris Judicial Police department was “poised” to launch a probe into the incident, The Sun reported, and all four people in the car could be charged — even if the gun was a fake.

“If the evidence points to her involvement, she will be prosecuted,” a source told the newspaper. “Anybody involved in the illegal use of a handgun in public is liable to arrest and interrogation.”

The source said that prosecution for having a gun in public could result in up to seven years in prison, according to French law. They could spend as much as two years in jail if the gun isn’t real.

French authorities have been on high alert about gun violence since a crazed, Al Qaeda-inspired gunman killed three children, a rabbi and three paratroopers during a four-day rampage in southwest France in March.

Middleton, who lives in London, was reportedly in Paris for a lavish costume party to celebrate the birthday of young fashion mogul Arthur de Soultrait, who was also in the car.

Palace watchers said the scandal was a rare one for Prince William’s sister-in-law, who became a globally recognized socialite after a stunning appearance at the royal wedding last April.

“Pippa is a party girl. She mixes now in very high society and they don’t come very higher than this group of French aristocratic sons,” The Sun’s royal editor, Duncan Larcombe, told “Good Morning America” on Monday.
