A woman made a shocking discovery as she used the bathroom on Wednesday night, locking eyes with a Peeping Tom who was hiding out beneath her trailer. The unnamed woman saw movement in the air duct in the bathroom floor and peered into it. As she did she saw a man’s face staring up at her.
‘Hello,’ he greeted her from within his sordid hideout, where he had been spying on her and her four-year-old son.
Christian Hobbs had rigged up cameras beneath the trailer and was lying in wait for his victims, unionleader.com reported.
‘I thought there was an animal in my house, and I went to go survey the area because I saw something not right,’ the victim told ksdk.com. ‘I went to go check out to see what it was and that was when he revealed himself.
‘I said, “What are you doing? Watching me go to the bathroom?” and he said, “No, no, no, I just got set up I didn’t see anything yet.”‘
The handyman had set up his lewd network of video equipment two weeks earlier when he was working on the Massachusetts home, which he had previously sold to the woman.
She had rejected his advances when he asked her out on dates, putting her foot down and firmly saying ‘no.’
So Hobbs instead broke in and installed two baby monitors – one in the bedroom and another in the dryer duct, cutting holes in the floor and vent.
By the time he was caught the 44-year-old had spent two days beneath the trailer, living off power bars, watching and videoing the woman and her nude son in a series of 16 one-minute recordings.
Apparently proud of his crime, Hobbs blurted out: ‘I did it, it was me under the trailer,’ when police confronted him on a Salem highway.
He was arrested and charged with a string of offences including prowling, criminal mischief and violation of privacy.
