( 4UMF NEWS ) Mom Kills Children In Botched Suicide:

Police were investigating whether the wife of a city cop fatally gassed their two small kids before a botched suicide try in their Bronx apartment, a police source said.

A suicide note/confession was discovered near the bodies of the 5-year-old boy and his infant sister, indicating the mom intended to kill the children and herself inside the Nobel Ave. home, the source said.

An upstairs tenant in the building called 911 just before midnight Thursday to report a gas leak.

First responders arrived at 11:53 p.m. to find a gruesome sight inside apartment 9N: The unresponsive little boy and his 4-month-old sibling lying dead inside the southeast Bronx home. EMS workers tried desperately to revive the two unconscious kids before both died at the scene.

“I saw the baby outside the building,” neighbor Randy Marcado, 44, told the Daily News. “Legs were moving a little bit. They were giving the baby CPR.”

The 29-year-old mother was alive, with just minor cuts on her wrists, and she was taken to Jacobi Medical Center in the Bronx for treatment, police said. She was listed in stable condition.

The woman’s devastated husband, a city police officer, broke down in tears after returning home to find his apartment was now a likely crime scene.

A man who lives beneath the death apartment said there were strange noises coming from above Thursday night.

“They are usually very quiet,” said the man, who declined to give his name. “I heard loud banging. Three loud bangs. Like someone was dropping something heavy on the ground.” The thumps were followed by an eerie silence.

“It was quiet,” he said. “I didn’t hear anything after that.”
