( 4UMF NEWS ) Model Dies During During Liposuction:
A 27-year-old Brazilian model and actress died while undergoing liposuction surgery but hospital officials did not properly record her death for more than a week, authorities say.
Police are looking into the death of Pamela Baris do Nascimento, who died from hemorrhaging on Oct. 19 while on the operating table at Green Hill Hospital in Sao Paulo.
Her death was not recorded at the hospital until Oct. 29, police told the Independent.
Sources say the young woman’s liver might have been punctured during the procedure.
A lawyer acting for the Nascimento family told Brazilian media he believed the young woman’s death may have been caused by medical malpractice. Surgeon Júlio César Yoshimura could face manslaughter charges, the lawyer said.
