( 4UMF NEWS ) Mary Kennedy Pleaded For Help:
Robert F. Kennedy Jr. apparently blew off his suicidal wife Mary Richardson Kennedy when she pleaded with him to “take care of her” just one day before she hanged herself.
RFK Jr. told his wife’s Bedford caretaker that he could not do more to save his estranged wife because “she doesn’t want to help herself,” the caretaker told cops who probed Mary’s death.
The seemingly cold words are contained in Bedford Police investigative records and include a one-sided account from RFK Jr. about his last conversation with his doomed wife.
“She told me she was sorry for everything,” he told police. “She said I was right about everything, and everything was her fault. She then told me she needed me to take care of her.”
Mary, a 52-year-old mother of four who had battled drug and alcohol addiction for many years, was despondent over her impending divorce from RFK Jr. when she killed herself.
The papers do not reveal what Kennedy told the desperate woman, but they suggest he allegedly turned down another plea to aid his wife from the unnamed caretaker.
She told cops that Mary had stopped going to the gym in the mornings and was “staying in bed by herself.”
Mary “asked me to pray for her, because she got more bad news from her lawyer,” the caretaker stated in the papers.
Worried, the caretaker told cops she contacted Bobby.
“I noticed some changes in Mary,” she said. “I thought something was wrong with her. I told Bobby about her, and I told him that she needs help.”
Mary was found dead May 16 in the barn of her Westchester County spread.
Perhaps in deference to the Kennedy family, the first reports indicated that the caretaker had found her lifeless body and sounded the alarm — not her AA sponsor.
But on the day Mary was found dead, Kennedy had reached out to the sponsor, Shannon White, and said “he was worried that something had happened to Mary and that she may have hurt herself,” the papers revealed.
White told cops that she had also received a call from a distraught Mary the day before and related what she told Bobby.
“I told him I was surprised because she had been blossoming in front of my eyes with the work she had been doing with AA,” White said.
