A Palos Hills man was charged Friday with selling marijuana to an undercover Chicago police officer after posting an ad on Craigslist.

Yazan Yousef, 20, was ordered held on $50,000 bond by Judge Donald Panarese on charges of drug possession and distribution.

According to a police report, an undercover officer spotted Yousef’s ad for marjiuana on Craigslist and contacted him through the popular online classifieds site. Yousef offered to sell a half-ounce of marijuana for $240 and set up a meeting at the CTA Brown Line’s Sedgwick station.

When the undercover officer arrived at the station Thursday afternoon, Yousef approached him and said, “Walk this way ‘cause I saw an ‘M’ plate around the corner,” a reference to a municipal plate displayed on many undercover police vehicles, the report said.

The two walked to Orleans Street and North Avenue, where Yousef took a bag of pot from a black backpack and handed it to the officer in exchange for the cash. The officer announced the arrest, searched Yousef’s bag and found a second plastic bag of marijuana and a glass jar of hallucinogenic mushrooms, police said.

When questioned about the ad, Yousef allegedly said, “This is the second time I did this and got caught” and begged for the officer to let him go, according to the report.
