( 4UMF NEWS ) Lea Walker Interview:

4UMF.com had the opportunity to sit down and chat with BET executive turned business owner Lea Walker. As the Director of Production for Original Programming at BET, Walker has worked on a slew of hit shows including “Sunday Best,” “Tiny & Toya,” and “American Gangster,” and has worked with talented artists and individuals like John Salley, Damien Wayans, Ryan Seacrest, Snoop Dogg, and Janet Jackson.

Well-established in the entertainment and television industry, Walker always knew there was something missing in her life and when a series of medical issues forced Walker to become bedridden for several weeks, she found herself on a new path. Trying poled-dancing on a whim to help with her back-related injury, Walker fell in love with the results.

“I did it, it was a blast, it was great for my back and from there I did aerial yoga which was even better. I ended up not having to have the spinal fusion surgery.”

Always the business woman, Walker wanted to share her new-found euphoric feeling as well as the feeling of empowerment and health benefits from aerial yoga with the world. Aeriform Arts was born!

Walker talks about the benefits of aerial yoga and how it works the entire body.

“The nice thing about aerial yoga is that everyone can do it,” Walker says. “Some of the poses that you do in yoga, if you’re older or have no flexibility or a bit larger are harder to do in yoga because you’re putting a lot of pressure on your joints. With aerial yoga, you have a hammock so it supports you. So it’s actually easier to get in some of the poses and you get a deeper stretch in.”

Walker also talks about whether “American Gangster” is coming back and what other shows are down the pike for BET!
