Michael Jackson’s three kids are officially back with grandmom.
“I think the kids are in terrific hands,” Superior Court Judge Mitchell Beckloff said Thursday before reinstating Katherine Jackson as co-guardian of her grandchildren. “It appears from the report that Katherine Jackson has done a wonderful job and cares about the children very much.”
Jackson will share guardianship with the kids’ cousin TJ, the 34-year-old son of Michael’s brother Tito, at Katherine’s California mansion.
The Thursday decision was temporary, but Beckloff said he planned to finalize the ruling later this month. Last week, the judge ordered investigators to sit down with Michael’s three kids to draft a report on their well-being.
Prince Jackson, 15, along with siblings Paris, 14, and Blanket, 10, expressed their desire to remain with their grandmother. Katherine Jackson, 82, took in the trio after Michael Jackson’s stunning death in 2009.
Custody of the kids became an issue last week as some of the Jackson siblings challenged the veracity of brother Michael’s will, looking for a piece of his $1 billion estate.
None of his brothers or sisters received a penny from their platinum-selling brother. The bulk of the estate went to his mother and his children.
But days after the disinherited siblings rechallenged the will, Katherine Jackson disappeared — leading to speculation that she was kidnapped. The family matriarch finally resurfaced to say she was staying at an Arizona spa.
Michael’s three kids demanded her return, using Paris and Prince Michael’s Twitter streams to stoke a Jackson family civil war. Eventually, they were reunited with their grandmom.
During Katherine’s 10-day absence, the judge temporarily named TJ Jackson as the sole guardian. The co-guardianship agreement was hammered out late last week pending the judge’s OK.
