Justin Timberlake is bringing sorry back. The 31-year-old singer-turned actor turned to his web site to post an open letter apologizing for the ill-advised wedding video a friend made in honor of Timberlake and Jessica Biel’s nuptials.
The now-infamous video — featuring several vagrants, transsexuals and street musicians giving their wedding wishes to the Hollywood A-listers — surfaced on Gawker.com Wednesday, several days after the couple’s lavish ceremony in Italy.
“I had no knowledge of its existence” and “had absolutely ZERO contribution to it,” Timberlake wrote, adding that the video was never shown at the actual wedding.
“I am deeply sorry to anyone who was offended by the video. Again, it was something that I was not made aware of,” wrote Timberlake. “But, I do understand the reaction and, by association, I am holding myself accountable.”
Timberlake called his friends — TMZ reports that pal Justin Huchel is one of the filmmakers behind the video — “good people” who had a “lapse of judgment.”
“I don’t believe it was made to be insensitive,” he said. “[But] I think we can all agree that it was distasteful.”
