( 4UMF NEWS ) iPhone Top-Selling Smartphone:

Apple‘s iPhones are still at the top of the charts.

The tech giant’s gadgets made up 51.2% of all smartphones sold in the U.S. in the three months that ended Dec. 23, putting it in the No. 1 spot, according to a Kantar WorldPanel report.

In the same period of 2011, they made up only about 45% of sales.

The report offered some evidence Apple is luring customers from some of its key competitors. About 19% of U.S. iPhone sales were by former users of smartphones using Google’s Android operating system, up from 9% in 2011.

Android smartphones made up 44.2% of sales during that period, a touch lower than last year, while Research In Motion‘s BlackBerry made up a scant 1%, down from 6% in the prior year, Kantar said.
