Indefinite detention in the U.S.A. appears to have been brought about by the National Defense Authorization Act of 2012. President Obama signed the act , which the Republicans and Democrats had agreed too, with the caveat “ even though I have the power, I would never use it….trust me.”
The U.S. leads the International Incarceration Index for the most citizens incarcerated per capita , in the world , which raises the question “ Will the next president use this power? “
