Gladys Knight has weighed into the Jackson family feud – insinuating 14-year-old Paris needs to pipe down and learn some respect for her elders. The 68-year-old soul singer – who is a friend of the famous clan – said she would have knocked the teen’s teeth out if she had spoken to her like she did to Janet during Monday’s altercation at the Calabasas compound.
Paris is said to have had an explosive argument with her 46-year-old aunt Janet on Monday as tensions heightened over matriarch Katherine‘s whereabouts.
Janet apparently called Paris a ‘spoiled little b****’ while Paris shot back: ‘This is our house. Not the Jackson family house. Get the f*** out!’
Now Gladys – known as The Empress of Soul – has made her loyalties clear.
Speaking on U.S. daytime show The Talk, she fumed: ‘You’ve got to understand Paris is 14? How old is Janet? Who’s the one to try to direct the other one here? I would think it’s a good thing [Janet] lets Paris know who she is.’
She went on: ‘[Janet] is just trying to protect her in a way. But if she [Paris] called me that she would have no teeth.’
Gladys earlier explained: ‘I was raised in the southern way,’ adding later in the interview: ‘That’s the way we were brought up. You respect your elders.’
The interview comes as Michael Jackson’s mother Katherine and her nephew TJ Jackson are both expected to file court documents this morning to share custody of Jacko’s three children, Prince, Paris and Blanket.
The pair met last night in the company of lawyers to hash out an agreement over the care of the siblings, aged 10 to 15.
A judge granted Tito Jackson‘s son TJ temporary guardianship on Wednesday, citing concerns that Katherine was being prevented from fulfilling her role as guardian ‘by a third party’ following her days-long absence from the California home she shares with the children.
I understand what Gladys Knight is saying but clearly Pairs was lashing out because she hasn’t seen or heard from her grandmother. Her father is dead. She has no mother. She’s a Jackson. Cut her some slack…
