Georgia Pastor Commits Suicide

( 4UMF NEWS ) Georgia Pastor Commits Suicide:

A Georgia pastor took his own life in an extreme way and has left his family and 800 member congregation stunned and heartbroken.

Teddy Parker Jr., pastor of Bibb Mount Zion Baptist Church in Macon, mortally shot himself outside his home after Sunday morning service, a coroner said, according to 13WMAZ.

Houston County Coroner Danny Galpin reported Parker’s wife first found him in the driveway of their Warner Robins home with a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

Parker, 41, and his wife Larrinecia Sims Parker have two beautiful daughters, Bibb Mount Zion Baptist church’s website states.

“Pastor Parker, a man of profound spiritual vision, gifted with intellectual qualities, was called to serve as Pastor of Bibb Mount Zion Baptist Church in July 1997.”

So far, it is unclear what is behind the tragedy.

“We consider this a private matter between the family and the BMZ church family,” Lakesia Toomer, a church official, told 13WMAZ. “We kindly ask that the public respects our privacy at this time.”

E. Dewey Smith, Jr., the Pastor/Teacher of The Greater Travelers Rest Baptist Church located in Decatur, Georgia, tweeted yesterday:

My 41 year old friend who Pastored, passed away this morning in between his services. STRESS can kill you!!!!

“I lost my Friend!! Never knew he was Pastoring, Preaching & in Unbearable Pain! We gotta deal with this!”

Pastor Smith wrote in his another tweet:

We’ve had 2 YOUNG, GIFTED GEORGIA Pastors to commit suicide in the last 3 YEARS! 1 in Columbus & the other in Macon–WE MUST ADDRESS THIS!”

Rodney B. Jackson tweeted to Pastor Smith:

Every leader needs someone in his/her life who can talk him/her off the edge of the cliff.”
