( 4UMF NEWS ) Frankie Beverly Diagnosed With Throat Cancer:

The vocal cords of one legendary soul man could be compromised with illness. Sources exclusively tell HSK that 65-year-old Frankie Beverly has been diagnosed with throat cancer.

Health experts say throat cancer is most common in men who use tobacco and drink excessively.

Here’s what a Memphis insider had to say about the sad news:

“I learned about the diagnosis last November, when Frankie Beverly and Maze performed down here at the Civic Center.”

Frankie Beverly is currently on tour.

I always wanted to see you in concert and I did on my Birthday which was Oct. 15th 2012 in Las Vegas Nv My son surprised me with tickets and I was so happy to see you in concert that was the best 50th birthday gift. Frankie, I was sadden to hear the news yesterday from my sister. I have been a long time fan of yours. I remember when I first saw your concert in Cleveland, Ohio on my birthday. The light shined up on me and it seemed like you was singing to me personally and a lot of fans noticed that as well. I was dancing and having a great time. I have seen you so many times in concert and enjoyed every one like it was the first time. The last time was at the Macy’s Jazz Festival in Cincinnati.
