Dolphin Bites Girl’s Arm

( 4UMF NEWS ) Dolphin Bites Girl’s Arm:

The parents of an 8-year-old girl visiting SeaWorld in Florida are flipping out over a dolphin that jumped out of the water and bit her hand, leaving her with puncture wounds.

The Nov. 21 incident, which was captured on video and uploaded to YouTube, has Jamie and Amy Thomas outraged that employees seemed to shrug off what happened, the Orlando Sentinel reported Saturday.

“I thought … I would have to jump in the water and save my daughter’s life,” Jamie Thomas, of Alpharetta, Ga., told the newspaper. “I literally thought she was going to be pulled into the water.”

In the video, the girl can be seen helping to feed the dolphins when one unexpectedly grabs her.

Thomas posted the scare online, telling viewers that “we wanted to share this video so others can make an informed decision about whether or not the risks to yourself or your child are worth the experience.”

Guests are told not to remove a paper tray of fish near the pool’s edge where dolphins come up to eat, according to the Sentinel. Jillian Thomas can be seen lifting it up in the video and saying she was out of fish — prompting a dolphin to jump at her.

“I am such an overprotective parent that if I knew my child might get bitten, I would not have even let my daughter do this,” mom Amy Thomas told the Sentinel. “But I felt safe. Everyone just imagines dolphins as smiling, non-biting animals with knobby teeth. You forget these are wild animals.”
