( 4UMF NEWS ) Dad Kills Teen Son In Attempted Robbery:
Investigators say a father shot his 15-year-old son thinking he was a burglar trying to break into the home next door.
According to investigators, a homeowner on Meetinghouse Hill Circle in New Fairfield called her neighbor, Jeffrey Giuliano, around 1:00 on Thursday morning because she believed someone was trying to break into her home.
Giuliano armed himself with a handgun and came outside to investigate. He encountered a person dressed in black, wearing a black ski mask and holding a shiny object in his hand standing outside the woman’s home.
A confrontation ensued, and police say the person wearing the mask lunged in a threatening way, so Giuliano, thinking the suspect had a weapon, opened fire and killed him He would later learn the suspect was his 15 year old son, Tyler Giuliano.
The father, Jeffrey Giuliano, is a fifth-grade teacher in town.
The investigation is continuing, but no charges have been filed in the case.
