( 4UMF NEWS ) Bottle Service Banned At 40/40 Club:
On the heels of a bottle-throwing brawl that left Manhattan nightclubbers bloodied, most fans at Brooklyn’s new Barclays Center will not be able to buy full bottles of hard booze.
Developers of the basketball arena told the State Liquor Authority that bottle service has been bounced from the menus of Jay-Z’s 40/40 Club and other bars and restaurants at the arena.
But a spokeswoman for developer Forest City Ratner Co. said bottles of champagne and wine will be exempt from the bottle-service ban. Bottles of hard liquor will still be offered in luxury suites, she added.
The move comes a week after a brawl, allegedly sparked by a feud between rivals Drake and Chris Brown, erupted into bottle-throwing mayhem at club W.i.P. in Soho, leaving eight injured.
Neighbors of the arena are still worried about drinking at the venue. At a public hearing Tuesday night, neighbors presented a petition protesting the venue’s plan to sell alcohol until 2 a.m. They asked that alcohol sales be cut off at 10 p.m.
