Soon the multiplex will again be filled with the joyous sounds of his enemies being crushed and the lamentations of their women.
Universal Pictures is rebooting its Conan the Barbarian franchise with Arnold Schwarzenegger reprising the role that launched his movie career, Deadline.com reported.
More than three decades after the 1982 original, the now 65-year-old former Governor of California is more antediluvian than barbarian at this stage of his career. But producers Frederik Malmberg and Chris Morgan say the aging action star will play a more mature, kingly version of Robert E. Howard’s mythic hero in “Legend of Conan.”
.“The original ended with Arnold on the throne as a seasoned warrior, and this is the take of the film we will make,” Malmberg told Deadline. “It’s that Nordic Viking mythic guy who has played the role of king, warrior, soldier and mercenary, and who has bedded more women than anyone, nearing the last cycle of his life.
“He knows he’ll be going to Valhalla, and wants to go out with a good battle.”
