(4UMF NEWS ) Army’s Suicide Rate Skyrocket
The U.S. Army’s suicide rate sky-rocketed eighty percent from 2004 to 2008. A study posted in the Injury Prevention journal found that at least twenty five percent , and as much as fifty percent of the U.S. Army suicides were the result of the mental effects of combat operations in Iraq and Afghanistan. Seventeen percent of the U.S. Army suicides in 2007 and 2008 , had been hospitalized for a mental health problem , while fifty percent of them had visited a mental health related professional for a mental health issue.
