( 4UMF NEWS ) Alligator Bites Trainer’s Arm:
An alligator show at an Ohio fair went horribly wrong when an angry gator bit down on its trainer’s arm and refused to let go. Thursday’s attack at the Cuyahoga County Fair in Berea was captured on video.
In the clip, the trainer, identified by ABC News as Daniel Beck, circles the gator in an attempt to wrestle it from behind.
But as he explained to ABC, “My arm was just a little bit too high and it ended up in the wrong place.”
The reptile clamps down on Beck’s arm at the elbow. He manages to remain calm even as parents in the audience call for their kids to look away or close their eyes.
Show producer Bert Lucas frantically tries to pry the gator’s jaws apart. Eventually he is able to free Beck with the help of a stick.
“These things happen,” he tells the crowd as Beck runs off to seek medical attention.
Beck told ABC he did not suffer any nerve or muscle damage and only required a few stitches.
Lucas said the pressure of a gator’s bite is “like putting your hand in a vice and cranking it down as tight as you can get it and then doing six more cranks.”
