( 4UMF NEWS ) Album Review: Tyga‘s Careless World:
One of the most anticipated albums from a newcomer, Tyga’s Careless World: Rise Of The Last King finally hits the shelves. After suffering a few setbacks and supposedly having the album recalled just a few days before the February 21st release due to a quote from Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr that did not receive clearance, Tyga is ready to be crowned.
Extremely heavy on the guest appearances from both the YMCMB family and much more, Lil Wayne, Nicki Minaj, Birdman, Nas, Wale, Busta Rhymes, Big Sean, Marsha Ambrosius, Chris Brown, T-Pain, Robin Thicke all get in on the action. Tyga works with almost as many producers as he does feature artists. With production from Jess Jackson, Lex Luger, Pharrell, J. Cole, Polow da Don, The Neptunes, Boi-1da, Arthur McArthur and more.
“I’m not going to say it’s a sound that’s new which no-one has heard, but I am doing it in my own way you know?” Tyga says of Careless World. “I like to have fun. I suppose I’d call it car music, you know what I’m saying? Music you could just ride to or listen on headphones and it takes you to another place and lets you forget your situation and what is going on around you.”
Tyga is best known for his stripper anthem ‘Rack City’ hit which has sold more than one million copies since its release late last year. However, perhaps the song that helps Tyga earn the crown the most may be ‘Black Crowns.’
Uhh, heavenly father, appoint me to the coronation
I deserve it, brought music for clarification
Envision my past, Egypt reincarnated
Negativity hill, over the hump camels waiting
Never gave up, most of my peers forsaken
One make it, we all make it but I was never that patient
On the T-Minus produced ‘Muthafucka Up,’ along with the help of Nicki Minaj, Tyga boasts and brags over the ‘6 Foot, 7 Foot’ inspired beat.
YMCMB, rawest niggas doing it
School for the blind, I don’t see these niggas doing it
I’m doing it and doing it and doing it well
Niggas wanna test me boy, who wanna fail?
Hit you like a bully bitch, yeah saved by the bell
If you scared, go to church I’ll see you in hell
And your girl, she a flip, give me heads or tails
Everybody fake so I got real for sale
On ‘King And Queens,’ Tyga seems as if he was born to be a king.
Army stance, ready for war
We use a Andy Warhol to paint the decor
Apologizing for my actions, sometimes I get bored
They say my music knocks, so I hope it open every door
But it is Nas who has the stand out verse on this track.
You’re in the presence of a majestic, esoteric
Message from the most ghettoest king, worldwide respected
I can say ghettoest cause I come from where metal spit
Praying to God I can slide and slip out the Devil’s grip
Nas and Busta Rhymes vie for the best guest spot appearance. It’s a close call, to close for me to call. On ‘Potty Mouth,’ Bussa Buss has that quick-silver tongue that will slice you up and down before you even knew he begun. Sidebar: Busta Rhymes has stepped his game up to another level, spitting circles around most of the rappers out there.
There were some lulls on Careless World. ‘Let It Show,’ ‘Celebration,’ and ‘For The Fame’ could’ve winded up on a mixtape or just chucked altogether. At other times the boasting and bragging were overkill. Hence ‘Faded.’
Though he may have regal aspirations, an album with less features might’ve shown us more why Tyga deserves to be seated at the throne.
I rather put one in the air, congratulate careers
Death defying moments, people that I ain’t seen in years
What you running from when you you’re your only fear?
Guess my time is here…
