( 4UMF NEWS ) $60,000 A Month NYC Penthouse:

It will cost you up to $60,000 dollars a month to rent a Frank Gehry-designed penthouse – but it will afford you unrivalled views of New York City. The New York by Gehry skyscraper on Beekman St. in Manhattan is the tallest residential building in the Western hemisphere at 870 feet high.

The three 76th floor penthouses in the iconic building are the highest residences in North America and among the only individual homes designed by the world-famous architect.

‘You’re higher than the helicopters up here,’ Cliff Finn, president of New Development Marketing at Citi Habitats, the company in charge of renting the units, told the New York Daily News. ‘These are the best apartments in the top rental building in the world by the top architect in the world.’

The apartments offer 360 degree views of the Woolworth Building, the Statue of Liberty, the Hudson and East rivers and the breathtaking Manhattan skyline.

The two three-bedroom penthouses cost $45,000 a month to rent, while the four-bedroom unit will set tenants back a staggering $720,000 a year.

The high-end 3,800 square-foot apartment comes with an extra studio unit and state-of-the-art facilities, including a remote controlled lighting system, marble and limestone flooring and walls and a Sub-Zero icemaker.

Residents also have access to the building’s plush amenities, which include an indoor pool, baby grand piano, personal Pilates rooms, spa suite and grilling terrace.

‘These penthouses are for two kinds of people,’ said Susi Yu, a vice president for Forest City Ratner Companies, which developed the tower, told the newspaper. ‘One, it’s bragging rights to have the most expansive views in New York and live in a Frank Gehry building. Two, you have to really appreciate the finest architecture and design in the world.’

Gehry, who has been called ‘the most important architect of our age’, is an award-winning architect based in Los Angeles. His stunning buildings have become tourist attractions.

His other famous works include the Guggenheim Museum in Bilbao, Spain, the Walt Disney Concert Hall in downtown Los Angeles and the Experience Music Project in Seattle.
