( 4UMF NEWS ) 300 Teen Walmart Smash Mob:
Whether it’s for an extravagant proposal or just a sing-a-long surprise, entertaining flash mobs typically lift people’s spirits. However, a flash mob in Florida on Saturday night was decidedly more sinister.
A gang of about 300 teenagers mobbed a Wal-Mart in Jacksonville where they ran wild, destroyed $1,500 of property, started a food fight and fired gun-shots, according to police reports.
The hundreds of teens, who police believe are all aged under 18, stormed into the store about 11.30pm.
People within the group posted the footage of the incident onto YouTube.
The 3-minute video shows the stampeding teenagers grabbing loaves of bread and fruit and starting a food fight.
As some ham it up for the camera, others career around in shopping carts, stealing and taking pictures of the riot on their phones. Gunshots were apparently fired into the air in the parking lot outside the store, although no one was injured, the police report says.
Violent flash mobs, also known as ‘smash mobs’, are becoming increasingly frequent. Investigators suspect that the massive group could have come on from a party that the police broke up earlier in the night.
A 20-year-old was allegedly shot in the leg at the party, which was two miles away from the Wal-Mart, according to reports.
The police were called to the Wal-Mart just minutes after the party was broken up. However, by the time officers arrived at the store the gang had run away, reported News 4 Jax.
