In the case of Princess Hajah Hafizah Sururul Bolkiah, the daughter of Sultan Haj Hassanal Bolkiah, the Sultan of Brunei, your nuptials are an excuse for a decadent week-long celebration that, according to some estimates, could cost $20 million.
The wedding took place today in the Throne Hall of the Sultan’s 1,700-room palace in front of 2,000 guests. The lavish festivities will last through Sunday night when the couple is officially presented at the royal court. The groom? Pengiran Haji Muhammad Ruzaini, a civil servant in the prime minister’s office.
