A California teen had three words for her former teacher turned live in boyfriend: Goodbye to you.

Jordan Powers, 18, said Saturday on “Good Morning America” that she broke up with James Hooker, 41, after he was arrested this week for allegedly sexually assaulting another teen girl 14 years ago.

“He called me from jail, and yes, I told him we’re done,” she said. “I lost everything for this guy. I lost my senior year. I gave up all my friends at high school because they didn’t agree with me.”

Powers and Hooker made national news earlier this year when they appeared on Dr. Phil and “Good Morning America” to defend their relationship. Powers’ defense of Hooker and their public displays of affection between the two turned parents’ stomachs across the nation.

In addition to confronting the now-former couple on television, Powers’ mother, Tammie Powers, took her campaign against her daughter’s relationship to the California legislature, where she helped Republican Assemblywoman Kristin Olsen introduce legislation that make it a felony for any teacher to have a sexual relationship with a student – even if they are 18.

According to ABC, she expressed relief at Hooker’s arrest on Friday.

Hooker was arrested after another former student of his came forward to say she had a sexual relationship with him in 1998, when she was 17 years old, police said.

Powers told ABC that she had heard a completely different version of events before – but said she believed the woman came forward to help her see the truth about Hooker.

“My heart dropped,” she said. “I felt betrayed. I just have a gut feeling there are other girls.”

Kudos to her mother for not giving up on breaking that horrible relationship up.
