( 4UMF NEWS ) 14-Year-Old Shot In Head:
A Brooklyn teen hovered near death Thursday after taking a bullet between the eyes while walking home from a party with friends, police and witnesses said.
Akeal Christopher, 14, was shot about 11 p.m. Wednesday after a street corner scuffle in Bushwick quickly escalated into gunfire, police sources said.
Akeal was rushed to Brookdale University Hospital in critical condition.
“He’s a good boy,” his sobbing mother, Natasha Christopher, told the Daily News at the hospital. “I know every mother says that, but my son is a good boy. He never hurt anyone. He doesn’t deserve this.”
Akeal and his pals were heading home when they ran into another group of teens at the corner of Evergreen Ave. and Cornelia St.
Words were exchanged before someone from the second group pulled a handgun and pumped a bullet point-blank into Akeal’s head.
Natasha Christopher said she spoke with her son shortly before he was wounded.
“He was so happy,” she said. “He was just going to spend time with some friends.”
No arrests have been made.
